What we collect
- Your email: to sign you in and to send password-reset links. It is stored encrypted and is never shown to other users.
- Your username: public, shown on the Rank board and your posts.
- Your password: stored only as a secure hash. We can't see it.
- Your Mobile Money number: the payout number you give at sign-up (where converted tips are paid), and any number you pay with. Stored encrypted; other players never see it, and you only ever see it masked (for example +256 77X XXX 456).
- Your game profile: chosen hero, sound setting, runs and Chapters.
- Your posts, reactions and tips: posts are public with your username. Who tipped whom, and how much, is kept with your Chapters history; other players only see a post's total.
- Payments and payouts: amounts, dates and references of what you buy, tip and convert, kept as financial records for as long as the law requires, even if you delete your account.
- Support requests: what you write to Oohkk Support and our replies, so we can help you and look back at what happened.
- Signed-in devices: a short label (e.g. "Chrome on Android") and when each was last used, so you can sign them out.
Guests who play without an account: nothing is saved on our servers.
Marketplace
- Sellers: the number that paid for the Seller pass is your verified seller number. It is stored encrypted, and given only to signed-in members who tap Message on WhatsApp on your listing. A one-way code of it is kept to block numbers banned for scams.
- Listings: their words, price, area (division and neighbourhood, never your address) and photos, which are public. Photos are re-saved without location or camera details.
- What members do: listings you save, contact or report, and counts of views and searches (without saying who searched), so we can rank listings fairly, warn you about a scam, and deal with reports.
Dating
- About you: your birth date and gender (other members see only your age), your division, what you're looking for, and a made-up handle. Your Oohkk username and real name are never shown on Dating.
- Your selfie: a live photo taken in the app to prove you're a real person. It is kept safely on our side, in its own place, never at a public address. Only our staff can see it, to check it and to compare it if your account is reported. It is never shown to other members.
- The camera: Dating opens your camera only when you take the selfie, and only after you allow it. Nothing is recorded except the one photo you take.
- The link to your account: your Dating profile belongs to your Oohkk account. Members can't see who you are; our staff can, for reports and bans, and we share it with the police only when the law requires. Your Mobile Money number is checked (as a one-way code) against numbers banned for scams.
- Posts, requests and chats: your posts (public to Dating members), the notes you send, and your chat messages (only the two of you, and our staff if one of you reports the chat). Your post's views and requests are shown only to you.
- Swapped photos: kept privately for the two of you and deleted after the hours shown in the chat, or when the chat ends.
- Leaving Dating deletes your posts, requests, chats and swapped photos. We keep your selfie and the link to your account for a while in case of a report; ask Oohkk Support to delete your selfie too.
Cookies and what's kept on your phone
We use no advertising or tracking cookies, and no outside analytics.
- One sign-in cookie, only if you have an account: it keeps you signed in. Your browser can't read it, it is only sent to this site, and signing out removes it.
- Settings on your phone: graphics quality, the last Mobile Money number you paid with, whether you've done the training run, the page you were on (so a refresh takes you back), your Dating and Marketplace filters and saved searches, which posts you've opened (so they show as read), the counters on app icons, and a random number that counts daily visits without saying who you are.
- A copy of Oohkk: its code and text are saved on your phone so it opens faster and works on a weak connection. Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't collect your location or contacts. We only email you to reset your password and about security on your account (for example a new payment number, or a change of payout number).
Who helps us
Resend sends our emails. Relworx handles Mobile Money payments and payouts and receives the number and amount for each one. Cloudinary stores public photos (posts, listings and ads). Our servers and database are hosted by a cloud provider. Each only gets what it needs. Dating selfies and swapped photos stay in our own database, not with Cloudinary.
Your rights
Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you can see, download and delete your data. On Oohkk, open ME to download your data or delete your account.
Deleting your account closes it straight away: you're signed out everywhere and your profile, posts, comments, listings and Dating are hidden from everyone. If you change your mind, sign in within 5 months to restore it as it was. After that your email and username are freed, and 12 months after you deleted it everything personal is permanently wiped: your email, password, payout number, profile, posts, comments, listings, Dating (your selfie included) and Support conversations. Payment records the law requires us to keep are kept, without your phone number.
